AKA Pollo a la Brasa. They take whole chickens and season them with cumin, garlic, paprika and assortment of other ingredients and then they are slow roasted over a wood fire. You get your choice of potato or yucca fries and a small salad. Choose between a 1/4, 1/2 or even the el grande...1 whole chicken. Its cheep $5.00 - $12.00 depending on the size. The BYO cerveza laws may range from State to State. Its Yard Bird at its finest. If you are really daring try the native soda, Inca Gold, it tastes like bubble gum and your guaranteed a cavity with every serving. Not to say that I have it all the time, only once every two to three weeks or so. But I'm coming away feeling less and less satisfied. It seems as though the flavors that used to be so unique to each roll are now indistinguishable to me. Especially if dressed with the ubiquitous wasabi and soy sauce. Spicy mayo has overtaken
special rolls, and tobiko and fried tempura threads are everywhere.

Sushi ain't cheap. And I don't just have one roll and a cup of miso soup either. As soon as I ask whether they have uni (sea urchin roe) this evening, the server's eyes light up and the 'you might also like' list of available, top shelf sashimi is quickly rattled off: Toro,
Madai, King Salmon.....cha ching. I have no self-control.

I need a break for a while. I need a good, cheap Mexican joint, where I can bring my own cerveza, and not be worried about being upsold to a lobster burrito.Baydoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00751866865203182109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1360557762116828277.post-13463516896759896072013-02-24T11:25:06.616-05:002013-02-24T11:25:06.616-05:00Not even, actually.
