A New Jersey state of mind

Eli's comin'

The new home of Jimmy Hoffa and also of the
2010/2011 Super Bowl Champions,
the New York Giants.
The demolition is underway. Man, think of all the
championships, the mediocre play, the legends,
the bathroom brawls, the stinkin' rude, pot-smokin'
Jets' fans, fans throwing snowballs at the San Diego Chargers,
and that Ed the fireman dude who whips up the frenzied
J-E-T-S cheer. We saw Springsteen there,
Pink Floyd, U2, Springsteen, The Police, Peter Gabriel,
and of course, Bruce Springsteen among others.

Hypothetically, if we had season tickets,
this might be our view.

The Gridiron Club, which is accessible from some
of the best seats in the stadium. Indoor and warm in
cold weather, cool in the hot weather.
How ever do they keep track of the game while
getting their snacks?

This is where I'd spend most of my money,
at the sushi bar. Hamachi, Uni and Toro.
That's all I need. I might as well eat it in
the parking lot, because this is probably as close
as I will ever get to this sushi bar again.

And this is my pick for the best seat in the house.
Not too close to field level, not too high. Right on the
50 yard line. Also the last time I will probably
ever be here.

  1. Personally, I would not be a ticket purchaser. IMHO, football is perfectly suited to TV where there are always replays from numerous angles. Soccer and hockey, OTOH, have a kind of geometry to the action which is not easily captured in the TV box. And as far as mid-field seating, I made a counter-intuitive discovery: seated high in the "end zone" pavilion can be rewarding. Once, I had the opportunity to watch the Canadians play the Russians in hockey in a small arena in Colorado Springs. I was treated to an unforgettable appreciation for precision skating and passing. I don't know if mid-field seating for football is over-rated. Can't pronounce on that....

  2. Having only sat on the 50 yard line maybe at a high school game, I do believe, in my opinion, that seat would suit me fine. However, I have always said there's no better seat in the stadium than your living room couch. The mens' room is 10 feet away, the fridge is 12 feet away, and if you don't want to miss even a second of the game, pause it! But, there's nothing quite like the roar of the home crowd after a touchdown or the Air Force jets strafing the stadium before the game. The tears well and the breaths choke up a bit. It's one of my most favorite feel-good moments.

  3. Great seat to see Vick and the boys run into the stadium with a can of "kick ass" under their arm.

  4. If, after this long you would check for a response, F you. The Eagles suck. There. I couldn't resist.
