November

I melt and need to be sopped up every time
I hear this song.

  1. This song came out in '65.

My first trip to California was to Berkeley on semester break in the middle of the winter in '67.

    Berkeley in '67.

Free Speech Movement. Bookstores and coffee houses on Telegraph Avenue. Psychedelic posters. Country Joe and the Fish. Wide-eyed barefoot girls with flowers in their hair.

Then I went back to Philly which was like travelling back in time 200 years.

And the snow and the slush.

I fell into a very deep funk. We had deep funks back then.

And there was always that damned song.

    That damned song.

    That damned song.

    That damned song.

  2. Baydog, in considering your move to the Left-Wing Coast, you should know that I have reserved a rock on the beach for your butt next to my rock as well as a spot on the rail on my boat, (unless you're bringing yours along).

  3. Man! O Docker, how many seconds went by before you clicked out of that song? If you even clicked on it to begin with. Last thing I want to do is give you a bum groove. Got to go........ the fuzz are outside. Quick, flush the Mary Jane!!

  4. When this song came out, I was in high school and was "safe and warm ... in LA" and had no idea what dealing with slush and snow was about, except for weekends in the mountains. For that matter, I still don't. As Bob Dylan wrote in On the Road Again, "and you ask why I don't live here, honey, how come you don't move?"
    Peace, love and groovy tie-dye.
