I've listened to the King's College Carols most of my life. It's really all I care to hear; everything else sounds like Charlie Brown's teacher. Wah wah, wah wah wah, wah wah.
I thought I'd get away from cheesy Christmas tunes, but they play them in Japanese stores too! Drives me nuts (so I just don't go).
I miss those Maui Brass Ensemble gigs this time of year. We had great arrangements (some of them jazz) and played malls, hotels and churches including a midnight mass with choir and pipe organ. Not in this league, perhaps, but real music.
New Jersey, Sailing, Food, Family, and anything I think is interesting at the time make up the contents of this blog. Bear with me, I'm still learning.
Wow. Glorious singing in a spectacular setting. Beauty and purity.
ReplyDeleteMakes me even want to go to church (... or at least to Cambridge).
It's a great place for music. I remember hearing Brahms's Requieum in the chapel at Kings and the acoustics were awesome.
