Doc, from the front passenger seat on the way to the JT/CK concert. They said years ago that they were gonna restore that ship to its original splendor. Evidently they haven't started yet.
That's the problem when you have an undefined, indefinite "they" in charge of things. You don't know exactly who is supposed to be taking care of matters, and the end result is that no action gets taken. Reminds me of this old story:
"This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
"There was an important job to be done, and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
"Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
"Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
"Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
"It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done."
New Jersey, Sailing, Food, Family, and anything I think is interesting at the time make up the contents of this blog. Bear with me, I'm still learning.
Walt Whitman Bridge...SS United States...Philadelphia, PA? How'd I do?
ReplyDeleteJoe, what are you doing driving up 95 at this hour?
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I was going to get to meet the wiener dog.
Only a short distance from the home of the Philadelphia Laser Fleet. Is the the start of a series of photo quizzes about Laser fleets?
ReplyDeleteWas this shot taken from the driver's seat? ;-(
ReplyDeleteGood job Joe! Did you use Google?
ReplyDeleteO Docker, I should have pre-disqualified you.
Tillerman, that's a good idea.

I think in the case of the SS United States, everybody thought somebody would save the ship, but nobody had any money.
ReplyDeleteLast thing I read, the owners were considering scrapping her again. She apparently still holds the Blue Riband.
