    So my boat isn't the only one that goes upwind very nicely in a breeze under jib alone.

    Who writes these sailing textbooks anyhow?

    My boat won't go upwind at all without the mainsail up.

    No need to take your mainsail down, Tillerman. In 25 knots of wind, with your 220 lbs of movable ballast, you can sail to windward in a Laser with no problem.

    Baydawg, for the record: your Main was completely down and how high could you point?

    And what if your genoa was all out (150%), what then?
