Spoke Too Soon

It's really just starting to hit me now that the water is gone
and power is back on.  I may need to go cry for awhile.

  4. Bring juniper-scented spirits. I've got glasses.

  5. No words here will help much, so, by all means, make liberal use of whatever restorative spirits you have.

A year from now, this will all be a distant memory - maybe so just a week from now if you have enough restorative spirits.

  6. I am sorry to see something of what was lost. It is perhaps the best time to take stock of what was not lost, and what is most important in your life, in deep gratitude.

For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
    For everything Thy goodness sends.
    ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

  7. Love today's pic at the top of the blog. Are you the redhead? Who are the other dudes?

  8. One of my favorite photos ever. Am I the redhead. Dad Jim is at the helm with a Garcia-Vega, Baydog, brother Hans, and future stepfather Bob, whose E-scow 'E-Motion' we're all on. Mom snapped the shot. We were on our way to Mosquito Cove for a picnic. Note the old styrofoam cooler with the red rubber-coated handles. Four years later, Bob married Mom and Dad married Skip's sister Jill. All were friends ever after. We were lucky.

  10. You have a lot of cleaning up to do. Ugh. At least nobody was hurt. And presumably you have insurance. And you probably own your home, so you don't have to deal with a landlord like the one that Pat and I had, who charged the water damage from Alicia to our pet deposit, saying the cat had caused the damage. Umm, yeah, our cat was big (14 pounds), and his name was Shere Khan, but he was definitely not capable of producing that much urine!

  11. My sympathies, Baydog! But what with that family tree in your past, I have complete confidence in your and yours to stage a complete recovery! That banner photo is totally and absolutely astounding! I am in awe.....
