Have at it folks. There are many ingredients involved in this late-
night munchy photo. See how many you can name before I start
tossing clues your way. One of the white-colored components is
a dish taken from OFD. Some research may be necessary.
Mmmm. Don't care what's in it, it looks good! However, I'll take a stab…
ReplyDelete1) Artisanal dough
2) Rutabagas
3) Avocados
4) Tomato sauce
5) Cheese sauce
6) Green peppers
Yes to 3 and 6, but what kind of 6?
DeleteI was too busy trying to work out the answer to Mitch's quiz to even attempt this.
ReplyDeleteAh, but you got it.
DeleteThe red sauce on top is Sriracha. The white components is probably your famous celery root dish. Basil and cilantro. Green Pepper on a what looks like chedder cheese. On the side is some weird looking English cheese and pickled Okra.
ReplyDeleteSriracha, Celery root (knob) salad, and green pepper (jalapeno), and okra are correct. The weird looking English cheese is avocado.
DeleteThe orange stuff under the knob salad isn't cheese.
What I'd like to know is who purloined the jar of pickled okra that Kate presented on OFD, and which disappeared on Friday without a trace? I was hoping to introduce a fabulous new garnish to my next martini.
DeleteIt would seem the photo is Exhibit A for the prosecution.
That said, I am drooling over the alternative pie.
We English love our weird green avocado cheese.
ReplyDeleteThe orange stuff isn't cheese? What else can you use on a pizza? Bechamel sauce? But how would you make it so orange? Butternut squash? I know less about cooking than I know about sailing.
ReplyDeleteHint: It's not pizza dough, but can be found in an Asian grocery.
DeleteShaobing?
ReplyDeleteCloser....flatter though
DeleteCong you bing
ReplyDeleteOr Scallion pancake, yes. Now about that orange stuff. It gets its color from Roasted red peppers.
DeleteA Red Pepper tapenade?
ReplyDeleteHummus
DeleteAnd what's the brown stuff on top of the avocado?
ReplyDeleteI think its Yorkshire Pudding
DeletePickled dill on top of the avocado (it was in the okra jar).
DeleteLet's put this out of its misery: there were also chopped radishes on the pancake. I promise the next post (if there ever is one after this) will not be a food quiz.
NOOOOOOOOO! I love the food quizzes, (Its the only quiz I have a fighting chance against Tillerman and O'Docker). Anyhoo, it was a close toss up between pickled dill and yorkshire pudding, I guessed wrong.
ReplyDeleteRed pepper hummus instead of cheese. Scallion pancake instead of pizza dough. You are a genius sir. Could you please adopt me?
ReplyDeleteYou make raiding the fridge much too complicated.
ReplyDeleteWow! When you make a veggie pizza, you aren't kidding.
ReplyDeleteThing is, I didn't set out to make a veggie pizza.......just a snack. Those scallion pancakes are dangerously good. And I tend to have a bunch of fairly unusual shit in the fridge any given day of the week.
DeleteMan, you sure have me drooling.
