Miracle in the new Meadowlands. This cannot happen tomorrow. |
Okay, here's the scenario for NYG to make the playoffs:
Big Blue must beat the Filthadelphia Eagles in Metlife stadium,
something they haven't been able to do since our house
opened two years ago. Go Big Blue.
The Detroit Lions must beat da Bearse. Mathew Stafford has
the ability and nothing could be finer than defeating the Monsters
of the Midway on Sunday. Go Detroit.
The Pack need to beat the Vikes, who have enough motivation
with Adrian Peterson closing on the single-season rushing record.
205 yards is no small task. And if the Pack win, they get a first-
round bye. Sufficient inspiration for victory. Go Green Bay.
Last but not least, the Cryboys must beat the RG3s. This, I think,
may be the biggest task. These two divisional foes have become
way better as the season has progressed. Winner gets the
divisional crown. Go Tony Romo.
Think of us tomorrow. And pray for the men from East Rutherford.
Sounds about as likely as me coming first in the Laser racing at Newport today.
ReplyDeleteEspecially when you consider that (a) the sailing might be cancelled because of the weather and (b) even if racing is on I will be on RC.
Pray for the men from Fort Adams.
As I expected, racing is cancelled. Wind chill in the low teens. Already gusting 30, forecast gusts of40+.
ReplyDeleteGo giant men with pointy balls.
Sorry Baydog. Too many things had to fall the right for the Giants this time. We'll see if the Redskins will once again make me eat my liver a little later tonight.
DeleteMmm. Love liver. With bacon and onions.
ReplyDeleteYou'd be a prefect Redskins fan then--their playing often leaves us with our livers in our throats.
DeleteLove liver. With bacon and onions. With Brussels sprouts. With fava beans and a nice Chianti. Calf's, chicken's, lamb's, turkey's, monkfish's....anybody's liver will do.
DeleteYes, anybody's liver will do.
Delete... with fava beans and a nice chianti
DeleteI could taste my liver occasionally last night but didn't inhale. The Skins tried hard to lose several times but RD3 and Co. staggered to a satisfying victory over Dallas. I think this is their best season in 21 years--a long time since the Joe Gibbs era. Hopefully they won't fold like an old aluminum beach chair during the play offs.
DeleteSo the giants with pointy balls won today but really lost? I don't think I will ever understand the pointy ball game.
ReplyDeleteTillerman: Leave poor Baydog alone for a while--he's in mourning.
ReplyDeleteHey, we still beat them Iggles, and handily I might add. It was a good day for us. The Giants lost this season two weeks ago, unfortunately. The Lions game was close, but the Bears spoiled it for us. And if the Lions had won, the Vikes won any way.
DeleteAnd as for the Cryboys, we needed them to lose, not win. We will be cheering your Skins on tonight regardless, George!
The RG3s came through! Mr. Snyder can sleep well tonight. I never dreamed one man could be so wealthy from making pretzels.
DeleteWhen I was in Philly, the Iggles existed mainly so that other teams would have somebody to beat. It was that ancient tradition that helped make the Flyers' Stanley Cup win in '74 a religious experience.
ReplyDeleteThere's been a lot of scrapple under the bridge since then, but I get a warm feeling knowing that, in my old town, they haven't forgotten how to lose when it counts.
RG3S? Iggles? Dabearse? Vikes? Truly I am in a foreign country with a strange and different language.
ReplyDeleteBaydog, sorry my Lions couldn't hold up their end of the deal for you. This has not been their year, to say the least.
