  1. One thing America could do to improve politics would be to remove party labels from ballots.

As for Booker and Christie - even if it were possible - they would be a tough sell in a lot of key states. Vote for couple of guys from NJ? Fugetaboutit!

  2. Unfortunately in Republican politics, there's a built-in veto. The Teaparty Veto. These guys would make dynamite POTUS & VPOTUS candidates, but only if they had a "D" besides their names instead of an "R".

    1. Actually, Brother Cory (as my friend Cornel calls him) does have a D beside his name. I like both of these gentlemen very much, for varying reasons. Without going deeper into the political abyss, these are two very passionate personalities who I believe have New Jersey's best interests in mind. But it will never happen.

    1. Of course. Of course. If you were going to support Ryan/Cruz, you would want to remain anonymous.

  4. Dog - It's your prerogative on your own blog to enter the volatile (think nitroglycerin) realm of presidential politics in the spirit of your passion for NJ, but... beware of unleashing the furies (among your many diverse readers).

Just sayin'. On the other hand, Jersey tomatoes are... just Jersey tomatoes... and definitely not potatoes, as one VP (who was not from Jersey) once remarked.

  5. It's way too early to talk about presidential politics. God, it's like seeing Christmas decorations in Walgreens in August. It's just ain't right. I'm just sayin'.

  6. It will never happen because of the 12th Amendment that defines how the electoral college will select the P and VP.

"The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves."

So the members of the Electoral College from NJ couldn't vote for both Christie and Booker. In a close election that means that President Christie could get saddled with the VP from the opposing ticket. That's one reason why the major parties don't choose P and VP candidates from the same state.

Unless of course Booker did what Cheney did and pretends to move to Wyoming.

    1. What a cunning idea; pretend to move to Wyoming.

    2. What you learn on this site! Who knew about the 12th (count 'em) Amendment?

Thank you, Tillerman, for being such an informed student/citizen of our Constitution (despite your roots across the pond.)

So the relevant question is: what is the meaning of "state"? Is it mental, emotional or otherwise?

    3. Personally, I have lived variously in the great state of confusion as well as the state of denial.

I would back a team of Baydog and O Docker myself, but then I no longer live in the Untied States...
