I don't know whose old school that wine is from, but I'm having a hard time finding an Annandale Winery in California.
Strangely, there are some in South Africa and Australia, but the one address I found for an 'Annandale Winery' in Napa comes back to a winery named 'Rutherford' that doesn't list Annandale as one of their labels.
I was curious, as that address is smack in the middle of one of our favorite, uh, stomping grounds and we pass it often.
I have never heard of Annandale. If they were a Napa winery, you can bet a bottle of Aunt Betsy's mystery elixir that they would have NAPA plastered on the label. Who is the distributor?
The Annandale Chardonnay has a light, straw color and a very buttery nose with aromas of pears, peaches, pine and lemon. It is medium-bodied with flavors of pineapple, grapefruit and guava. It has great acidity on the palate with a long buttery finish
Doc, Not that any of this is important, Rutherford Winery grows the grapes, ferments the wine and labels the bottle that says "Annandale". They provide this service for the private seller of this wine. How do I know this, I called Rutherford and spoke to a nice young lady that explained the process to me. That would explain the same address for both wines, apparently they do this for many wine stores.
New Jersey, Sailing, Food, Family, and anything I think is interesting at the time make up the contents of this blog. Bear with me, I'm still learning.

ReplyDeleteO Docker,
ReplyDeleteMaybe you should ask the working girls in the county jail, they might know

Tillerman, that pretty much sums it up!
ReplyDeleteTillerman,
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly how the working girls in the the county jail described the Annandale Chardonnay, do you guys know each other?
Sandscraper, strangely, that is the home of this winery.
ReplyDeleteThe Chardonnay may have a buttery finish, but its beginnings seem smoky, with overtones of mystery.

Wow, thanks Charley for the clarification. It's a great wine for the money, so now everybody go out and buy some.
ReplyDeleteSo, the grapes grow up on the same vine, get stomped by the same feet, and do time in the same joint.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they figure out which ones go in the $9 bottle and which ones go in the $30 bottle.
When they run out of $30 bottles, they fill the $9 bottles. And they send them to Jersey.
