The Rain Song

I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us
But I know that I love you so

These are the seasons of emotion
and like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch we all must hold
This is the mystery of the quotient
Upon us all a little rain must fall

    1. back in my high school days, my hair had curls like Robert's. but I never had patience to let it grow long enough. after a certain point, it just fuzzed up into a giant white 'fro.

  2. Recalls Albert Camus' The Invincible Summer.

    Thx for the lyrics.

  3. Planted the garden (at least the stuff I grow from seeds) on Saturday. Sunday's soaking gave me happy thoughts of chard, cukes, basil and beet seeds all saying "Oooh, time to wake up!"

Although I guess I wouldn't have minded it if it hadn't been quite so watery out there at 8 pm, when old dog Buzz suddenly gave in to gastric issues & TQ asked me if I would run him & Bella out for a walk while he handled the mop-up. The dogs & I got pretty soggy (I didn't cheat them at all, we did the usual length for the evening walk) but I sure preferred that to what TQ had to deal with!

  4. There is nothing, absolutely nothing half so much worth smelling as a wet old dog.

  5. Good comparison, poor old guy. He's pretty good except when he's got an upset tummy like he did last night. Definitely getting up there, though, very white around the face and a little wobbly in the hips (that, we're not enjoying watching). Still loves a ride in the car, a hike, or a good game of tug-o-war, though - and he and Bella were happy as anything to go for a walk in the rain with me last night, they're not a bit picky about conditions, they always love their walks.

It wasn't that cold, so I didn't care that much either, and I'm really enjoying thinking about how soaked my garden must be today!

  6. Whoops, that was for tillerman!

And Baydog, nothing quite so much worth smelling as a wet old dog - and nothing quite as happy, perhaps, as a wet old dog being towelled off by his peoples after a good trip out in the rain. Oh, they both love that.

  7. I don't presently have a dog, although my 3 boys would love to have one.
I grew up in the country, and we always had a dog around, but it was always outdoors. my introduction to a house-dog was in college, and our fraternity dog was nice, but could on occasion be an issue.

like when I woke up for an 8am class, opened my door, and found the "shitastrophe". it literally looked like the dog decided to start chasing his tail while suffering a case of the trots. since I was the only one awake, I was the lucky guy to do clean-up. I would have gladly taken the dog for a walk in the rain over that.

anyway, hope your dog feels better bonnie.

  8. oh god...I'd be laughing out loud if I wasn't at work. Awful!

Thanks for the good wishes - they're really TQ's dogs but I really like 'em. Buzz had been feeling bad for a couple of days, fortunately they have a routine vet checkup this week so maybe the vet can prescribe some canine Immodium or something.
