According to reports, today will be the day that the 'house in the Bay'
will finally be demolished. It lies in the channel between the strip
in Mantoloking and Herring Island, a childhood landmark and
windsurfing turnaround point while sailing off the beach at 829
southdrive. Beyond Herring Island, I can see the monstrous house
that replaced my Grandmother's. Those folks don't even sail.
Thanks to Jo Hendley for the photo. Hope you don't mind.
Is that a Karmann Ghia in the driveway?
ReplyDeleteYes, and Herring Island in the distance.
DeleteThere are people who don't even sail? What on earth are they living for?
ReplyDeleteUnimaginable.
DeleteThey probably eat New England Chowder.

DeleteI so feel your pain.
Check out this video.
ReplyDeleteMan, that brought back some emotion. Especially some of the aerial shots in the photo collection. It's amazing, but it feels like it's hit closer to home now than it did 6 months ago, even though it's no longer our home.
DeleteI think the home we grew up in is always our home in a sense, no matter where we have spent our adult life and no matter how many years have passed.
DeleteDo we miss the comforts of childhood more, the more complicated life gets?
Every single day.
