  1. Concerning the lovely oysters - you really should apply the NJ tomato philosophy - savor the pure oysters and their natural brine and, at most, one drop of lemon juice. Leave the coctkail sauce for some tacos or something else. Of course the tonic and gin are important ingredients. Or if you want to try a different libation - a high quality cider goes very nicely with oysters.

  2. I'm envious. When it comes to sailing or even just being on the boat, this has been the lost summer for us...

  3. I don't know, Baydog; the oysters are OK, but water skiing or being towed on a boogie board is too much like "trolling with live bait" for this old guy.

  4. Wouldn't those oysters be better with a slice of crispy bacon on top?

    1. Hey, Nothing brings out the flavor of oysters than a couple slices of crispy bacon. If we go bacon why not cloves? we spike the oysters with cloves like grandma did with that ham she took out of the can. Bacon and clove oysters...we need a side dish. Eureka! Bangers and Mash! Perfect!

    2. Now I'm starting to worry about you, Doug.

    3. Just giving my old blog pal, Tillerman a hard time. Actually the picture of the oysters made me so hungry. I haven't had oysters in a while and I am dying for some. I...must...have...oysters!

    4. Bangers and mash are very boring without a few slices of crispy bacon.

  5. Tonic and gin...

I know you were just mixing it up for fun, but there an implied subordination of the latter to the former in the ordering of nouns.

    Cocktail sauce with oysters?

One is the actor, the other, the supporting actor.

  6. Gin and tonic

    Is a man that grins
    Hey Mojo, where ya been?

The tonic and gin came from Billy Joel, and it just sounded better than gin and tonic in that verse. I'm sure there's a word for that.

Erster is the actor, and cocktail sauce is one of many disposable groupies.

    1. The word for that is rhyme; lyrics, like poetry, will disturb the natural order of things to suit another purpose.

As for the absence, we were in Palo Alto (area) watching the girls play water polo in the Junior Olympics tournament. While there, we had some VERY good times with the western branch of the family (minus Becky, who was in Switzerland).
