Pictures at a Competition

The view from the lake of humanity.  I almost called it a sea, but
it wasn't quite that big.  Every person I stepped in front of to get
a better view gave such a harumph, like I was blocking out the
sunlight or something.  It's only snowboarding......look, you
can see it more clearly to the left on the Xtralarge-tron.
I almost called it a Jumbo, but it wasn't quite that big.

Had to get out of there.  Phew.  The Mrs. was still down there
somewhere.  At least from this perch I located the Heineken
tent and quickly acquired an ice cold one.  From there I went and
took a couple of bomber runs on the other side of the relatively
empty mountain.

Shaun White came away with 1st again, but is
becoming less and less comfortable with face-
to-face contact.  The Hairloom Tomato.

Once again, Louie Vito showed that he was still
down-to-earth, even after earning a respectable
second place finish.  This year, he asked my niece
and younger daughter to pose with him.
They said fine, but make it quick!

Miles From Nowhere

Guess I'll take my time
Oh yeah, to reach there

Olympic Village, Amsterdam 2028

There will be late-night snack venues located
throughout the Olympic Village in Amsterdam,
the projected host to the 2028 Fall Olympics.
The I.O.C. Foodservices Division have been
hard at work developing menus that will be
implemented during this 28 gra...I mean 28 day
event.  This item has been tested and re-tested
and has passed with flying colors.  A crisp disc of
Pancetta slices with sliced tomatoes and grated
Parmesan, and then a whole egg cracked over the top
and cooked under a lid until opaque.  And oh yeah, a
few leftover potstickers thrown in the pan to re-brown.
All of the 5 basic food groups:  Pork, Pork, Tomatoes,
Cheese, and Eggs.  And Dumpling Wrappers too.
I would classify it as Pan-Itasian.

These venues will be open 24 hours a day,
in anticipation of hordes of hungry athletes.  Some
of the disciplines for which to be competed include:
Hacky-Sack, Ultimate Frisbee, Hacky-Fris
(a kind of Biathlon), Horseshoes, Darts (baseball rules),
Quoits (Trenton rules), Wine Tasting,  Standard Laser,
Laser Radial, Laser Mini Rig (throwback),
Beer Bong, Beer Pong (impossible tickets),
Flip Cup, Sing-a-long with the Acoustic Guitar
Dude on the Quad, Jai Alai Scoops, the NFL tailgate
game 'Cornhole', and many more.  New to
the games in 2028 will be Quarter Bounce, although
this time it will be considered an exhibition sport
(medals to be awarded in 2033).  Stay tuned for updates.

A Calendar That's Really a Tea Towel

A fellow esteemed blogger wrote recently about his joy upon
receiving a Tea Towel Calendar sent to him from yet another
esteemed blogger.  I get the impression that his calendar will be
safely stowed away or better yet, framed or hung somewhere safely
outside the reach of airborne stove-grease molecules or the grimy
hands of a juvenile passer-by.  Mine, on the other hand, has had
both animal broth and fermented grape juice spattered on it, and
through the miracle of Spray and Wash came out of the dryer no
worse for wear, and softer and more absorbent because of it.  I may
retire it soon, but its tour of duty will not have been served in vain.
Thanks, Bowsprite!  Can I reserve for next year?

It's That Time of Year Again!

Knuckledraggers!  And to think that it all started
in Southern Vermont. So what time is it anyway?

They're amazingly talented and we're looking forward to it as always.
