Talking of flyers, why is the Radio Flyer Wagon called the Radio Flyer Wagon? It doesn't fly and it doesn't have a radio.

  3. Hi. I followed you from Proper Course. I hope it is okay. I am not sure if the camaraderie here is a private comraderie.

  6. katey and nick mostly nick: The inventor of the Radio Flyer was an Italian immigrant by the name of Antonio Pasin (1897-1990). There is nice 5 minute video about him on the company website.

He was fascinated by radio and flying - both relatively new technologies in the early 1920s. His first wagon, made of wood, was called the Liberty Coaster that had a picture of the Statue of Liberty, which had impressed him on his arrival in the USA, in its logo. A later wagon was the "Lindy Flyer", which perhaps makes more sense than Radio Flyer.

  7. 'Radio' was the 1920s 'digital.'

Baydog, I hope those are middle-schoolers. Otherwise I feel extremely old (I drive through a UMd campus on my way to work and those kids look barely high school age to me).
